Manager Development Program
Description
For public service managers, managing people and performance includes ensuring that their employees are engaged and highly productive in serving the interests of Canadians. The Manager Development Program (MDP) is an important step in the learning path for new managers, offering valuable insights into the roles and accountabilities of managers in the federal public service, and the expectations placed upon them. Participants will develop the self-awareness and communication skills needed to succeed in their management role and thrive as a new team leader.
The in-person classroom edition of the Manager Development Program has been suspended as of March 2020 and the program is now being offered virtually only as the Manager Development Program: Virtual Edition.
For registered participants who began the in-person edition, but who were not able to complete Phase 4 in the classroom before March 2020
This path will no longer be available as of December 31, 2023 and course LPL139 will be archived. Any questions can be directed to the Client Contact Centre.
Registered participants who began the in-person edition, but who were not able to complete Phase 4 (G415) in the classroom before March 2020, must complete the following program path instead:
- Change Management and the Brain (LPL135)
- Using Key Leadership Competencies to Challenge Reality (LPL136)
- Leading Diversity (INC110)
- My Leadership Journey for Managers (LPL139)
Once these courses have been completed, they will be registered as an equivalent to Phase 4 (LPL128) and a certification path will be completed.
For registered participants who began the in-person edition, but who were not able to complete Phase 3 online and Phase 4 in the classroom before March 2020
Registered participants who began the in-person edition, but who were not able to complete Phase 3 (G414) online and Phase 4 (G415) in the classroom before March 2020, must complete the following program path instead. This exception certification path applies only to registered participants who successfully completed up to Phase 2 (G413).
